Bombers win ties up MAAFL Print E-mail
Monday, 04 August 2008
The Milwaukee Bombers win on Saturday over the Nashville Kangaroos ensured the winner of the MAAFL Championship Division wont be known till at least late September. The win at home by the Bombers against the previous undefeated Nashville Kangaroos meant three teams are now tied at the top of the MAAFL Championship ladder all with three wins each with only a small percentage seperating them. The Milwaukee Bombers however are now in the drivers seat having two more games to play in the race for the Premiership whilst Nashville and Chicago only have one game each.

Chicago now on top of the ladder will play Milwaukee away on September 13th and Nashville must travel to all the way up to Minnesota a week later on September 20th to also try and move to four wins on the table. Milwaukee conversely can jump to the top of the ladder next week and be a game clear but have to travel away and beat Minnesota then wait a whole month till they play Chicago. That game as mentioned is at home for Milwaukee and could be the deciding factor.

Its certainly going to be an interesting month for the MAAFL teams as they strive for the trophy as the best team in the Midwest and Sth East of USA. Its also quite possible all three teams will finish with 4 wins each and the trophy will be decided by percentage.  For those unaware the percentage is calculated by using the total points scored divided by points against. As can be seen by the table above all three teams are already very close in that area making every goal or even behind in the remaining games crucial and perhaps adding up to winning or losing the Premiership trophy.

Roll on next week!
